Start-up of iNANOSPRAY Project

On Wednesday, May 9th 2012, we celebrated in Barcelona, the kick-off meeting of the iNanospray project: "Intelligent production system for Nanocoatings through thermal Spray”. iNanospray is a project granted by European Commission, in the MANUNET Transnational Call 2011 Programme – Catalonia (ACC1Ó) and Germany (BMBF) funding programmes - and where CPT participates as specialist within the production of coatings by thermal spray techniques. Representatives of both regions/countries taking part in the consortium, Catalonia and Germany, met in Barcelona, in order to plan the work for the next two years. The meeting was finished within the visit of the consortium in the CPT´s Cold Spray facilities.

A new incorporation in CPT

 

Alex Latorre has joined CPT as researcher to do the PhD in the field of biomaterials. Alex Latorre has a previous experience in health fields. He collaborated on R&D and quality control departments in cosmetic industry and also on the optimization of cardiology devices.

At present, due to his interest about biomaterials field, he works researching in the optimization of cardiology devices, trying to develop biocompatible polimers.

Alex Latorre is graduated in Chemistry by University of Barcelona with an excellent student record and showed interest in CPT by its career in materials field.

He speaks fluently Spanish, Catalan and English.

 

Dr. Simona Iliescu, has joined CPT as Innovation Manager of the Center

Last December, Dr. Simona Iliescu has joined CPT as Innovation Manager of the Center. Dr. Simona Iliescu has an extensive experience in the fields of R&D&i and foreign trade, both in private and public sector. She worked for six years as R&D Responsable for an Advanced Ceramic Spanish Company and five years as Associate Professor at the Politechnic University of Catalonia.

In the field of R&D&i has been involved in both, development and management of national and international projects supported / funded by ACC10, CDTI and Framework Programme of the European Union. Her expertise is focused on advanced ceramic materials for applications such as Biomedicine (hip, knee and dental implants), Jewellery, Copper Industry, Aerospace (extreme conditions), Renewable energy, Engineering, etc.

She has worked as a consultant on the analysis of a start-up project in the advanced ceramic materials for a venture capital company, leader in Spain. In the field of foreign trade, she has managed projects promoted by the German Minister of Economy and Technology, has organized and participated in international trade fairs in internationalization process of a leading Spanish Company in the Advanced Materials sector.
Actually she is the Innovation Manager of CPT and she is involved within the development of strategic alliances within industry, academia and technological centers, within the internationalization, innovationa and valorisation strategy of CPT. Simona Iliescu is graduated in Physics by Universitatea de Vest Timisoara, Romania, has a PhD in Materials Science by Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona and a Master in Business Administration by Fundación Politecnica de Catalunya. She published different scientific articles and holds a patent at european level.
She speaks fluently Spanish, English, Catalan and Romanian.
